Baptized Adults

Adults that have received a valid Baptism (either in the Catholic church or another Christian church) but have not received the sacraments of First Communion and/or Confirmation are called Candidates. Candidates are prepared to received the missing sacraments and are catechized in the Catholic faith.

The preparation for catechumens and candidates lasts for a year through a process known as the Rite of Catholic Initiation for Adults. Catechumens and candidates receive the sacraments and are received completely into the Church on Easter Vigil.
